Title: 'Oklahoma lesbian couple 20 years beat toddler'
Type: Article
Published by: Hannah Parry- Daily mail
This article is about a 20 year old lesbian couple that both bet one of the woman's five year old son. This article is a disgusting article and it makes me sick to think someone could do this to such a young kid.
This article caught my attention with disgust, because these are both grown woman aged 29 and 26. They have bet this five year old boy because they felt like it. 'A lesbian couple from Oklahoma have been jailed for 20 years after they tortured one of the women's five-year-old son's, beating him with a hammer and kicked him in the groin in a brutal attack which lead the boy to have two strokes.' This honestly makes me feel sick to my stomach to think that she could birth this baby into the world and then beat him. How could you brutally beat someone that actually never asked to be born into this world? How could you do that to your own bundle of joy?
This article really got me thinking. How could you beat your own blood, to the point that he ends in hospital having two strokes! You carried this precious baby for 9 months, this precious life, and you just want to beat him with your girlfriend? That is honestly in my eyes and I would assume many others, disgusting. It has also made me really angry because I could never imagine in one million years my mother or father beating my three year old sister once she's five. I do not know the child or the child's family but I feel so deeply for this little boy. I am thankful they have been imprisoned for this cruel act. 'The nature of the injuries were very severe, but the child is doing very well now in a loving home.' This brings so much joy to my heart knowing that this little young innocent child is getting the justice he needs and now with people who will love and appreciate him. I hope that these ladies regret what they did not because they have been caught but because of what they did.

Title; I am Malala
Author: Malala Yousafzai
Date published: 8 October 2013
I am Malala is a book about a young girl who stood up for what she believed in, girls education. This book really follows Malala's life after being shot in the face by the Taliban, all because she believed that boys and girls should both get an education. This book truly is inspiring it shows that you could go through hell and back but as long as you stick up for what you believe is right and have hope then miracles really can happen.
This autobiography really intrigued me purely just because of Malala's story. Malala was 15 when she was shot in the face by the Taliban. Malala is a advocate for girls education. I really relate to this autobiography because I believe in equality, just like Malala. Malala is a young woman who believes in equality. " I don't mind if I have to sit on the floor at school. All I want is a education and I afraid of no one." This really makes you realise that she is passionate and isn't going to let anything and anyone stop her from standing up for what she believes is right. Even though there was a death threat issued from the Taliban all over the news and internet, she still held her head high and with confidence and pride. Although she was shot in the face, she made sure that if she was going to die she was going to knowing she tried to make a change. With all the love and hope she received she survived, and she went straight back to trying to make this change. I will forever salute Malala for her courage.
This autobiography really gave me insight to how bad other actually have it compared to New Zealanders. Here in New Zealand the equality around education are very equal. Both males and females are allowed access to education, weather it is in a class room or through the screen of a laptop or phone. We are allowed this access without others trying to interfere with it. Malala and other females in Pakistan were denied a lot of access to different areas of education. The Taliban shot Malala because of her speech, "How dare the Taliban take away our education." For me this shows a sign of weakness of the Taliban side of things because, they were afraid of the good Malala was doing by expressing her feelings to the world about how she felt about equality of education. I believe that Malala is a very brave girl and she is a true living miracle. She is a living miracle in my eyes because after having a death threat issued for her, being shot in the face, part of her skull taken out it hasn't stopped her from expressing her feelings and her passion for education. I think that a lot more people should really look up to Malala because by the time she was 18 she had received a Novel Peace Prize being the youngest person to ever receive one. Malala Yousafzai is someone who really did make a change in the world when everyone's voices were silenced.

Title: Boy 'driven' to suicide by bullies
Text type: Article
Published by: James Tozer-daily mail UK
This article is about an 11 year old boy who's parents believe bullies drove him to commit suicide. This article has his mother talking about her son's suicide and what she believes drove him to doing this.
This article really caught my attention because this is an 11 year old boy that had committed suicide, 11 years old. He was bullied for being smart and different. "it was like torture they'd call him names like 'gay boy' and 'fatso.' This gives us just a small insight and example of what really happened to Thomas, it's quite sad to see this generation of kids bullying someone for actually doing something with there life, for actually wanting to succeed in life. This gives us only a tiny understanding of how he was feeling before he killed himself. Thomas was only 11 when he had, had enough of life. This shows that kids these days really don't think before they speak, they don't care until it's too late.
I feel really angry at schools that don't help kids who get bullied. In the article Wallasey School headmaster Martin Pope said: "There is absolutely no record of the child reporting bullying within the school. We saw no evidence of Thomas being treated differently by other pupils." Does this mean that just because there was no physical and visual bullying seen on Tomas, it did not happen? I believe that schools should be less 'selfish' and instead of thinking about how it looks on their school think about what happened behind close doors. Kids these days are sneaky and malicious. The school is in my opinion being quite inconsiderate because a Mother has just lost her child and all they can think say is that pretty much because they did not see any bullying it did not happen.
At Hornby, we have a pretty good system when it comes to bullying, in the last year we have really became more considerate of what may be happen behind closed doors. At Hornby, we have become a lot more harsh when someone is getting bullied for example, if someone is being bullied we have our school Councillor and a lot of trusted students and adults. Hornby High School have also started to punish people if they are bullying someone else, an example of this is a lot more people have been stood down for bullying. People think that they will not get caught but the systems around bullying have really stepped up their game. School should really be more aware that kids these days that are being bullied are scared to stand up, they are scared to voice the abuse, but now that Tomas is gone, no one will ever understand how he was feeling and what was really happening.

Title: Cyberbully
author/director: Charles Binamé
Text type: Movie
Date finished:27th March 2017
Summary
This film is about a girl who is cyber bullied and verbally bullied by a group of girls from her school. Rumours begin to spread about her and the boy she had liked for ages stopped liking her because of these rumours and her friends turned on her. This amazing film shows us how cruel teenagers can be these days.
A character i related to was Taylor Hillridge. I related to her because like her I have felt weak and like i have no one. In the film her friends turn on her ‘I don’t know why everyone hates me so much. Or maybe or do because now i hate me too.” This shows that Taylor is feeling alone and weak. This gives us a real understanding as to how she is feeling. I relate to this because I have felt confused as to why someone may have turned on me and why i felt so alone and like it was just me against the world. I think that society has got to the point where everyone hides behind the screen because they feel a sense of power, like no one or nothing can stop them. I believe this is because they are in there own ‘virtual reality’ they don’t see what damage they are doing until it’s too late. This is because deep down we are afraid of who we are and what we are becoming, everyone's jumping on bandwagons to ‘fit in’ but they don’t see what the damage is doing.
This Movie really gave me an insight to the way the teenagers of society don’t think before they act. This gave me an insight because the whole movie is based around how cyber bullying can honestly push people to their limits without the people behind the bullying realising.
This shows me that people think they are so powerful when they aren’t face to face with the victim they are targeting. The movie also gave me insight to how cruel people can become because of one mistake that you may have made. This movie gives a really good understanding that no matter how long you’ve been friends with someone for and no matter how much you thought they were you friend they can turn instantly and they can become quite cruel. An example of this in the movie is when Cheyenne tells Taylor she doesn't want to be seen with her around school anymore, even though they have been best of friends since preschool. This is a really big problem in society because these days a lot of people can your best of friends but as soon as you make one mistake they don’t want anything to do with you.
I don’t think teenagers these days see how much damage they are doing behind the screens of their phone. This film brings a lot of emotions to me because it really shows you that this generation is become really careless. The generation these days show that if you make one mistake it defines who you are, one mistake defines what you are. When I believe that one mistake doesn’t define who you are, everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect.
